What Is an IPC-Licensed Training Center?

An IPC-Licensed Training Center is an organization licensed by IPC to deliver official IPC certification programs. ElectroSpec is one of them.

Why it matters

Lots of companies offer training about IPC standards. Official IPC certification, though, comes only through IPC's certification program: from IPC-Licensed Training Centers and the Certified IPC Trainers (CITs) they certify.

If a contract or customer requires IPC certification, a certificate of completion from an unlicensed course won't meet it.

What you get from a licensed center

  • Official IPC exams. The same exams used worldwide.
  • Certified instructors. Trainers who are certified on the standard they teach.
  • A recognized certificate. Valid for 24 months and accepted across the industry.
  • Current material. Training aligned to the current revision of the standard.

How to check a provider

  1. Ask whether they are an IPC-Licensed Training Center.
  2. Ask whether the course ends with official IPC certification exams.
  3. Ask what you receive when you pass: an IPC certificate or just a completion certificate.

Certification versus completion

A completion certificate shows you attended a course. An IPC certification shows you passed the official exams. Customers and auditors look for the second.
