The CIT certification consists of two components — an open-book exam of approximately 75 multiple choice questions covering the entire IPC-A-610 standard, and a closed-book exam of approximately 25 questions. The IPC-A-610 standard is permitted during the open-book portion only. Both exams are remotely proctored using the IPC Remote Proctor System, allowing you to test from home or office using a computer with a webcam, microphone, and internet connection. Exams can be scheduled across multiple days at your convenience.

Every CIT enrollment includes one free retake of any failed exam portions. If you don't pass on your first attempt, you must wait a minimum of 14 calendar days before retesting. If you don't pass on your second attempt, the waiting period extends to a minimum of 30 calendar days, and a retake fee applies. A third failure requires a minimum 365 calendar day waiting period before attempting again. Note that you may retest only the failed portions of the exam if completed within 90 calendar days of the initial failed attempt.
